I would consider myself a minimalist.  As that applies to the uses speech recognition software, I utilize the least amount of effort to achieve the greatest possible efficiency and productivity benefits, without sacrificing quality. I utilize a Logitech desktop microphone allowing me effortless access. Though I am very comfortable controlling my computer by voice you will rarely find me using my speech recognition software for much more than getting my thoughts onto the page with a high degree of accuracy. I continue to use my keyboard and mouse for editing my documents and navigating the computer. There is one feature of Dragon NaturallySpeaking that after nine years, I continue to rely heavily on. The "Read That" feature gives me the reassurance my documents are error-free.

I was originally trained and began using speech recognition software in July of 2002. After taking an extended maternity leave of 4 years, I was re-trained on using speech recognition software in October of 2006. I was amazed at how the paten pending approach used by our Achieve Results certified trainer made it so easy to learn and implement the software into my daily routine. Since I began using speech recognition software I would have to say my favorite and most used feature is the "scratch that" command. I often think and re-think my words as I am speaking them into the mic, so this feature saves me from constantly backspacing and deleting.

I have never enjoyed so much freedom when working with my computer until I began using Dragon NaturallySpeaking. I have been an avid computer user for over 20 years, with business experience for 10 years, and DNS has certainly added a new dynamic to how I utilize my computer. Dragon offers the ability to fully control most common programs on your PC, like Internet Explorer, so I am able to visit and navigate websites with my voice which I enjoy doing.  I look forward to the future of Dragon NaturallySpeaking and the ease of use it will bring to computer users.

As a newcomer to Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9, the option that I like best is that you can utilize the microphone along with the keyboard and mouse. You are not limited to using only the microphone or the keyboard and mouse, but use them all together to be optimally productive. Now I find that when I am at a computer not outfitted with Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9, it is excruciatingly slow to use only the keyboard and mouse. For twenty two (22) years, I have typed lengthy litigation documents as a Paralegal. I have seen the workplace go from memory typewriters, PC's and now wholeheartedly believe that this is the FUTURE of document production. Those who have been waiting for an answer to document production should experience the training and program alike.

Before starting here I had only heard of speech recognition but I never had the opportunity to use it. It is mind blowing how much easier it makes completing any type of document. I have always been able to type fairly well, but now that I am using speech recognition, my productivity has more than doubled.

Although I am a new user, I have nothing but great things to say about speech recognition. I look forward to learning even more and continuing to increase my productivity as I become more proficient.
